    1. Reasons why the use of the bible is central in the study of C.R.E. ( 7*1=7 mks)
      • It’s a library of books used by the learners as a reference book.
      • It reveals God to learners.
      • It is a source of knowledge.
      • It is a source of Christian belief and practices.
      • It helps learners to understand their relationship with God
      • It is a sacred book containing God revelation to people
      • It is the true written word of God containing God’s message to the people
      • It reveals how God spoke to the people through prophets
      • Set standard for moral behavior.

    2. Identify five causes of sin with reference to Genesis 3. (Any relevant5*1=5 mks)
      • Disobedience by man
      • Lack of faith in God

    1. Describe the covenant between God and Abraham found in Gen 15:1-19 (7*1=7 mks)
      • In the covenant, God asked Abraham to bring the following: A 3 year old heifer, a she goat, a ram, a turtle dove and a young pigeon.
      • The animals were to be without blemish
      • He was instructed to cut the animals into halves
      • He was instructed to arrange the animals opposite each other in two row
      • He was not to cut the birds
      • Abraham felt into a deep sleep then God appeared to him in vision.
      • He was given promises.
      • A smoking fire pot and a flaming torch appeared suddenly and passed through the pieces of meat.

    2. Describe ways in which Abraham demonstrated his faith in God. (8*1=8mks)
      • By abandoning idol worship (moon god) to serve Yahweh the true God.
      • By accepting to leave Haran to an unknown land
      • By building altars at Bethel and Shechem in honor of God
      • By accepting circumcision as a sign of the covenant / got circumcised together with his son and servants
      • By sacrificing the animals in the covenant making/accepting to make a covenant with God
      • By accepting to change their names (Abram to Abraham father of the great nation, and Sarai to Sarah-mother of the great nation)
      • By agreeing to sacrifice his son Isaac
      • By worshipping God. He prayed / sacrificed/ interceded to God
      •  By believing in the fulfillment of God’s promises
      • By making a covenant with God.

    3. State five ways in which Christians keep their vows to serve God. (5*1=5 mks)
      • being prayerful
      • giving to the needy
      • reading the bible everyday
      • evangelizing to others /preaching

      • keeping God’s laws /ten commandments/sabbath
      • visiting the sick

    1. Identify six areas which show king Ahab as a failure in Israel. 6*1= (6 mks)
      • He married Jezebel which was contrary to the covenant laws
      • He allowed Jezebel to bring a great number of baal gods/Asherah prophets to his kingdom.
      • He killed a great number of Yahweh’s prophets/persecuted
      • He made the Israelites turn away from Yahweh and the covenant way of life/by introducing idolatry.
      • He ruled with the influence from the Phoenician culture
      • He made alliances with foreigners which made him an ally with kings instead of depending on God
      • He violated the covenant law by ensuring the murder of Naboth in order to acquire his vineyard
      • He allowed his wife to bear false witness against Naboth thus breaking the law on brotherhood.

    2. What seven attributes show the nature of the Canaanite Religion? (7*1= 7mks)
      • It was polytheistic in nature with many gods and goddesses.

      • Free mixing of boys and girls is restricted or monitored
      • Girls and boys are taught to respect each other
      • During social occasions youth are supervised to prevent misbehavior
      • Severe punishment is there when a girl gets pregnant or a man impregnates a girl before marriage

      • A relative identifies a girl from a family and suggests the family of the young man
      • Parents make decisions before marriage

      • Young people could court and choose to marry
      • A young girl could be given as a way of settling dispute/replace the one who died
      • Bride price could be paid to a family in advance
      • A young man and his age mates waylay a girl and take her for marriage
      • The first wife chooses a wife for her husband
    3. Expain the socio/cultural changes that have taken place in the Traditional African Communities in Kenya today (explain 4*2=8mks)
      • The mode of dressing has changed with the moderns trends
      • Introduction of new form of worship /Christianity/Islam and other world religions.
      • Ancestors are no longer considered as part of family and not involved in activities of the community
      • There is individual ownership of land rather than communal
      • Some rites of passages are no longer practiced /dropped
      • Migration /urbanization/free mingling of people have weakened family ties
      • Introduction of modern contraceptives and people can now plan the number of children
      • Homes of the age have emerged /the old are now left on their own
      • Modern forms of technology/ infrastructure have transformed lives
      • New form of government has emerged replacing the roles of elders/specialists
      • Introduction of formal education.
