QUESTIONS
SECTION A (10 marks)
Read the passage below and then write the summary.
Everyone can be a good leader
Some people say that leadership is reserved for certain people. Others would say that everyone can be a good leader. All these opinions could make us wonder who a leader really is and what a leader does.
It is clear that women and men have had different roles in society for a long time. These different roles are known as gender roles. It is important to note that gender role differences are slowly fading. Women are taking up roles that were traditionally reserved for men. We might find women at construction sites or at garages. Women can also be found operating heavy machinery. More and more men are working as beauticians.
Each person, regardless of gender, has a role to play in the society. For our communities to progress, all members must participate equally in performing different roles. We should not allow a traditional definition of gender roles to determine our careers and professional paths. Gender roles should also not define who can or cannot be a leader.
Effective leaders focus on the team rather than themselves. Whatever duty is at hand, they bring people together to find a solution. Skilled leaders are good communicators and listeners. If you were the class leader, you would be expected to speak fluently and clearly when explaining the plans you have for your class. You should be willing to listen to the comments and suggestions of others Members are motivated to stay in a team when the leader is willing to listen and learn from them.
In short, a set of skills is needed for a leader to succeed. Let boys and girls alike take up leadership roles faithfully.

Once upon a time, Fox was taking an afternoon stroll in the forest when he saw Crow flying off with a huge, juicy piece of meat that he had snatched from a butcher. Crow flew gracefully and settled on a high branch of a nearby tree.
"It has been long since I ate delicious meat," Fox thought to himself, his mouth watering. He walked to the shade at the foot of the large tree and looked up at Crow. He quickly came up with an idea.
"How well you look today, Miss Crow! And your feathers, how glossy! Your eyes have a sparkle and your dress makes you look stunning. I am sure your voice must also be spectacular, surpassing all other birds' voices."
Crow fluttered her wings proudly and became more attentive to the Fox. "I shall henceforth call you Queen of the Birds because you are truly a queen. Why don't you sing to me one of your beautiful songs?"On hearing this, Crow cleared her throat, tilted her head and got ready to sing in her best voice.
No sooner had she opened her beak than the piece of meat fell right into the open mouth of the Fox. Fox quickly gobbled it down much to Crow's dismay.
"That will do for now," Fox said smiling. "I future, do not trust flatterers!" he then walked away all smiles.

This Town!
There is a town, where I once lived,
Dirt and litter, all in one thrived,
Plastic bottles, waste paper bags,
Lay by the gutters in huge chunks,
No one wanted to get rid of the dirt.
Then came rain, on one cloudy day.
Which swept the waste, down all the way,
Blocked every gutter and flooded every place,
Mud filled the roads, toilets filled up too,
Everyone agreed to get rid of the dirt.
People came together and saved the town.
Collected all the garbage and cleared the drainage,
Together they resolved to keep the town clean,
It is now the cleanest town ever,
Not a single gutter is blocked.
