    • It guides in landing and taking off of aircrafts.
    • It helps in planning military activities.
    • It guides fishing activities
  4.
    1. Explain how mathematics is related to geography (2mks)
      • mathematics principles formulae are used in Geography to calculate distance and population density
      • Geography information can ge analyses and presented accurately through the application of mathematics
      • Geography concepts are applied in calculating direction bearing in mathematics (2marks)
    2. State four importance of studying geography (4mks)
      • it helps to develop skills
      • it enables learners to understand/appreciate different environmental influences
      • it encourages international awareness/co-operation

      • Six‘s thermometer
      • Hygrometer / (wet bulb and dry bulb thermometer)
    2. State and explain five qualifications which makes Stevenson screen suitable four its work. (5mks)
      • Painted white for little absorption of solar heat / energy
      • Made of wood which is a bad conductor of heat
      • Well-ventilated / lourres to allow easier flow of air inside it.

      • Has double roof which acts as an insulator to prevent direct heating from the sun. - Has metal legs to protect it from termites / Ants
  8. With the help of a well labelled diagram, explain the formation of frontal /cyclonic rainfall. (5mks)
    • Formation
    • Warm moist air mass meets with a cold air mass
    • The warm air is forced to rise since it is less dense
    • It cools as it rises at the line of contact with cold air (front)
    • The moisture condenses forming clouds resulting in frontal rain.
  9.
    1. Give three methods of predicting weather (3 Mks)
      • Use of modern methods

      • 23rd september
    2. Supposing the local time in Lusaka, 31◦ E is 9.30pm, what time would it be at Greenwich Meridian? (2mks)
      • 31◦-0◦ = 31x4 =124mins =2hrs 4mins
      • Greenwich time = 9.30 – 2hrs 4mins =7.26am
  12. Explain the effect of the following forces for the shape of the earth.
    1. Gravitational force (2mk)
      • Pulls materials from all directions to the centre of the earth bringing out rounding effect
