Osmosis is a special kind of diffusion because in both cases there is a movement of particles from a higher concentration region to a lower concentration region. The only difference is that osmosis is referred only to the movement of the solvent (water) across a semi-permeable membrane.

It involves movement of water molecules only and  not solute molecules

Osmosis is the same as diffusion but it is specified in small molecules which are able to pass through a semi-permeable membrane and diffusion all molecules are fine

It is the process by which water molecules move from region of high water concentration to region of lower water concentration

This is because osmosis involve water moving from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration through semi membrane
