A ball is thrown horizontally from the top of a vertical tower and strike the ground at point 50m from the bottom of the tower given that the height of the tower is 45m, determine the;

  1. Time taken by the ball to hit the ground. 
  2. The initial horizontal velocity of the ball. 
  3. Vertical velocity of the ball just before striking the ground (Take g=10m/s2)

  1. Since u=0 s = ½ gt2 =>
    45 = ½ x 10 x t2 => t = 3s
  2. S = ut 50 = u X 3 => u = 16.7m/s
  3. v = u + gt = 0 + 10 x 3 = 30m/s
