PhycF4T1P1Q18
Use the graph to determine

  1. The maximum speed of the train.
  2. The acceleration of the train during the first 2 minutes of the journey.
  3. The time during which the train is slowing down.
  4. The total distance in metres between the two stations.
  5. The average speed in m/s of the train.

  1. 22.5m/s

  2. V = u + at
    22.5 = 0 + 120a
    22.5 = 120a
    0.1875m/s = a

  3. =3min
    =3 x 60
    =180sec

  4. = ½ (a + b) h
    = ½ (300 + 600) 22.5
    = ½ ((5x60))22.5
    = 10,125m

  5. average speed= total distance/total time
    10800/10x60
    18m/s
