CxHy(g)+O2(g)→CO2(g)+H2O(g)
10cm3    30cm3       20cm3
Their volumes to mole ratio
CxHy(g)+O2(g)→CO2(g)+H2O(g)
1mole    3moles      2moles
CxHy(g)+3O2(g)→2CO2(g)+H2O(g)
Then 2 atoms of carbon were present in CxHy and 4 atoms of Hydrogen.
C2H4(g)+3O2(g)→2CO2(g)+2H2O(g)
Thus x = 2
