The set up below was used to investigate the burning of a candle study it and answer the questions that follow.

  3. Name two gases that come out through tube C.

  1.  It would be extingushed 
    • This is due to build up of Carbon (IV) Oxide in the funnel around the burning candle 
  2.  Mass increases 
    • Calcium Oxide absorbs water to form Calcium Hydroxide then absorbs Carbon (IV) Oxide gas.

    • Nitrogen 
  4.  
    • C(s) + O2(g) → CO2(g) 
    • 2H2 + O2(g) → 2H2O(l)
