Faida ya kwanza ya ukulima ni kwa wananchi. Kila mwananchi anahitaji chakula ili aweze kupata afya ya kumwezesha kufanya kazi. Ili taifa kuendelea linahitaji wananchi wenye afya. Afya hii hutokana na chakula kinachotokana na ukulima.

Faida ya pili ya ukulima ni kwa mkulima. Mkulima anapouza mazao ya shamba hupata pesa. nyingi. Pesa hizi humwezesha kujifanyia shughuli zake kama vile kujijengea nyumba, kulipia watoto wake karo, kulipa bili ya umeme na kadhalika. Kwa jumla ukulima unaweza kumwezesha mkulima kuishi maisha ya raha na jamii yake.

Vilevile faida ya ukulima ni kwa serikali. Kuna mazao ya shambani ambayo huuzwa katika nchi za nje na kuletea nchi yetu pesa nyingi za kigeni. Serikali inapopata pesa za kigeni huzitumia kufanya maendeleo mbalimbali kama vile kujenga barabara, hospitali, shule na kufanya miradi mbalimbali ya maendeleo.

Viwanda mbalimbali vya kutengeneza bidhaa za kilimo pia hujengwa. Hii inamaanisha kuwa wananchi watapata ujira viwandani. Wananchi hupata mshahara wa kuwawezesha kuendelea na maisha yao nayo serikali itapata kodi kutoka kwa wafanyakazi na wenye viwanda.

At this moment the windows of the cottage shook violently at the loud report of a cannon that appeared almost close to the cliff. All sprains to their feet, and looking through the window saw a rocket whizzing high in the air. As Andrew and Seth rushed out to the terrance a fearful sight presented. Brightly illumined by a blue light revenues cutter lay fixed on the iron rack. A wave rolled completely over her, and at once extinguished the light, at the same moment a tremendous crash was heard as her mast fell over the side.

Without loss of time Andrew and Seth had seized two coils of rope from the cottage stores and were making their way along the cliff to the projecting point at the right entrance to the bay.

Before long the mast, with six men clinging to it was washed against the cliff exactly below the point. But by the time Andrew and
Seth arrived only one remained alive, a Negro of about fourteen, whom they rescued by means of ropes.
