MARKING SCHEME

  1.  
    1. STATE THE ETIQUETTES/RULES TO BE OBSERVED DURING QURAN RECITATION. (5MKS)
      1. Cleanliness – free from najasat and take ablation.
      2. Start with audhubillah mina shayteni ar – rajim.
      3. As you are reading ponder on the meaning of what you are reading.
      4. Seek Allah’s punishment when reading a warning verses or describing the torment of hell.
      5. Ask the pleasure of ALLAH in the verses that give glad tidings to the believers of Allah.
      6. Avoid reciting the Quran in a noisy and interruptive environment.
      7. It is advisable to face the Qibla when reciting the Qur’an.
      8. Implementing the rules of tajweed.
      9. Recommended to prostrate in sujud tilawaat.
      10. One is advised to recite the Qur’an with good soothing voice.
      11. One is recommended to frequent the recitation of the Qur’an and not to engage in other activities during the reading.
    2. ENUMERATE THE ROLES PLAYED BY ANGEL JIBRIL IN THE REVELATION OF THE QUR’AN. (4MKS)
      1. Angel Jibril brought down the Qur’an from lauhil mahfudh to the prophet (p.b.u.h).
      2. He came to the prophet in a vision from and spoke to him in a clear voice to deliver and teach the Qur’an.
      3. He recited the Qur’an to the prophet (p.b.u.h) many times and the first occasion when he was at the cave of Hira.
      4. He brought the Qur’an in bits as commanded by Allah in order to make it easily understandable and applied accordingly, this continued for 23 yrs.
      5. In the last days of the prophet’s life, Jibril came during Ramadhan to read the Qur’an since he was unlettered.
      6. He was a friend and comforter to the prophet in the hardship of the Qur’an revelation.
      7. He advised the prophet (p.b.u.h) on the arrangements of Surah and verses in the Qur’an.
    3. OTHER NAMES OF SURATL FATIHA. (4MKS)
      1. Sab – ul – mathan.
      2. Suratul as swalah.
      3. Ummul Kitab
      4. Ash – shiffa
      5. Surratul al hamdu
      6. Suratul dua’a.
    4. LESSONS OF SURATUL FATIHA. (4MKS)
      1. It teaches us the importance of praising and thanking Allah.
      2. It teaches that Allah is the Lord of the Universe.
      3. It teaches us that Allah is the most merciful to all His creations and most compassionate to his believers.
      4. The Surah teaches us only to worship Allah alone and ask him for assistance.
      5. The Surah teaches us to invoke and supplicate to Allah to guide us to the right path.
      6. It also teaches the believers to avoid being in the way of evil ones (Jews) who got the wrath of Allah and unrighteous who went astray through supplicate.
      7. It teaches us that Allah is the master of the day of judgment.

      1. Qual – sayings
      2. Fitl – actions.
      3. Sifat – character of the prophet.
      4. Tagrir – actions of the companions which the prophet gave a silent approval.
    2. WAYS THROUGH WHICH HADITH EVOLVED. (4MKS)
      1. Prophet’s own initiative – Initiated talk by the prophet.
      2. Through answering questions – of the sahabas.
      3. As a demand of circumstances – to address situations that a raised.
      4. As an interpretation of Qur’an – to explain the Qur’an.
    3. SIGNIFICANCE OF HADITH. (4MKS)
      1. Used to interpret the Qur’an.
      2. It is applied as the second source of Islamic sharia
      3. It is a source of knowledge upon which one applies in the day to day life.
      4. Hadith strengthens one’s love for Allah and His messenger hence following their teachings and fulfilling Alllah’s command.
      5. Hadith builds and moulds the character of a Muslim.
      6. Helps the Muslims to understand the opinion held by the prophet and his stand on various issues.
    4. CONTRIBUTION OF HADITH TO THE ISLAMIC CULTURE DEVELOPMENT. (3MKS)
      1. It has contributed to the development of Arabic language, especially new vocabularies of religious significance such as Sunnah, qual, taqrir e.t.c.
      2. It contributed to the development of Islamic law as it forms the most authoritative source after Qur’an.
      3. Led to the emergence of Ulumul hadith (science of hadith) and Muhaddithur as a specialist of this branch of knowledge.
      4. It influenced Muslim’s code of behavior emulating the model of the prophet. (p.b.u.h)
      5. It contributed towards the emergence of new ways of observing ceremonies and festivals such as nikah, aqigah e.t.c
      6. It had influenced growth of Centre’s of learning/education where Hadith was taught.
      7. Hadith re-defined concepts of aura, personals hygiene ritual purify and dietary regulations. Most of these regulations and norms are contrary to prevailing cultures.
      8. It led to the development of press, publication and writing of books on hadith such as Sahih Al-Bukhari.
      9. Acceptance of the genuine sayings and practices of the prophet (p.b.u.h) became part and parcel of the requirements of faith.

    1. OBLIGATORY ACTS IN THE PERFORMANCE OF WUDHUL
      1. Intention.
      2. Washing of the face from the top of the forehead to the chin and between the two ears
      3. Washing both arms upto and including the elbows.
      4. Washing part of the head with wet hands.
      5. Washing both feet up to and including the ankles
      6. Sequence
    2. CONDITIONS FOR PRAYERS.
      1. Cleanliness of one self and the place of worship (ritual cleanliness)
      2. The appointed time for prayers.
      3. One should be ritually clean.
      4. Facing Qibla.
      5. Covering nudity.
      6. Maturity of the mind and sanity.
    3. TYPES OF SIJDAH.
      1. Sijdatual Tilawa – performed when one comes across the word sijdah while praying.
      2. Sijdtul shukr – performed to express gratitude to Allah.
      3. Sijdatul sahus – performed when a worshiper forgets to perform a pillar of salat while praying
    4. IMPORTANCE OF ZAKAT.
      1. It purifies wealth of the giver.
      2. Purifies the heart of the giver.
      3. It relies suffering of the needy and poor Muslims in the society.
      4. It cultivates a sense of social responsibility to the giver and a feeling security and belonging to the Ummah on part of the recipient.
      5. Muslims earn rewards from Allah since it is a pillar in Islam.
      6. It ensures good relationship between the giver and the recipient.

    1. TYPES OF TAWHEED.
      1. Tawheed al uluhiye – belief in oneness of the Lordship of Allah.
      2. Tawheed al uluhiye – belief in oneness of Allah in worship.
      3. Tawheed al asmaa was – fat – this is belief in oneness of Allah Names and qualities.
    2. RELEVANCE OF TAWHEED IN THE LIFE OF A MUSLIM.
      1. It generates a sense of modesty and humility and removes arrogance and pride in Muslim.
      2. Encourages Muslims to live upright lives because they know that success and salvation is only through Allah.
      3. Instills in Muslims a firm belief in Allah by testifying the shahade.
      4. Comforts Muslims in times of hardship and fills their hearts with hope and satisfaction.
      5. Creates a strong degree of determination and trust in Allah.
      6. Inspires bravery in Muslims and removes cowardice.
      7. It brings about contentment.
      8. By believing in Tawheed, Muslims obey Allah’s laws
    3. ANGELS AND THEIR DUTIES.
      1. Jibril – responsible for revelation and conveying wahyi to prophets.
      2. Mikail – in charge of rain and the growth of plants
      3. Israfil – to blow the trumpet during the day of judgment
      4. Izrail/Malakil maut – removing of souls of the living.

    1. DIMENSIONS OF ISLAMIC MORALITY. (4MKS)
      1. Hasnul khulq – virtues i.e patience, piety modesty e.t.c
      2. Su’ul khulq – vices i.e Alcoholism, Riba, Adultry e.t.c
    2. PRINCIPLES OF MORALITY.
      1. Allah (swt) is the creator and source of all goodness, truth and beauty.
      2. man is a responsible, dignified and honorable agent of His creator.
      3. Allah (SWT) has put everything in the heavens and the earth in the service of mankind.
      4. By his mercy and wisdom, Allah (SWT) does not expect the impossible from man or hold him accountable for anything beyond his power. Nor Allah (SWT) forbid man to enjoy the good things of life.
      5. Moderation, practicality and balance are guarantee of high integrity and sound morality.
      6. All things are permissible in principle expect what singled out as obligatory, which must be observed and what is singled out as forbidden, which must be avoided.
      7. A human being’s ultimate responsibility is to Allah (SWT) and his/her highest goat is the pleasure of his/her creator.
    3. ISLAMIC VIRTUES.
      1. Great level of piety – Grafted
      2. Plenty of good deeds – contentment.
      3. Modestry – Gentleness
      4. Little futile talk – Loving and hating for sake of Allah.
      5. Kindness – Having self – control in guarding our chastity
      6. Patience – Having respect for elders and mercy for young ones.
    4. BENEFITS OF GOOD MORALS TO THE MUSLIM YOUTH.
      1. Fosters respect between different members of the society hence one is respected and honored.
      2. Makes one to grow both spiritually and socially
      3. Eliminates anti social behavior such using vulgar language lying cursing e.t.c
      4. Enables youth to contribute positively to the Ummah and to be productive person.
      5. Enhances good relations with Allah, self and other members of the society.
      6. Eliminate crime, Quarrels and fighting among youth
      7. Morally upright youth serve as role models and can serve as agents for social.
      8. Upholding good morals may be a basis for attracting other people to Islam.

    1. EXPLAIN THE REASONS AS TO WHY THE FAMILY IS CONSIDERED AS THE FOUNDATION OF THE ISLAMIC SOCIETY. (5MKS)
      1. It is a room for procreation.
      2. It is the foundation of love between its members
      3. It’s a source of stability and security of its members
      4. It provides means of education and acts as learning institution.
      5. It indicates responsibility of each members towards the other.
      6. It is a source of financial support and co-operation.
      7. The society acts as a symbol of unity in the society.
      8. Source of identify for the children.
    2. EXPLAIN THE CONDITIONS FOR MARRIAGE. (4MKS)
      1. Consent of the two couples.
      2. Approval of the walii.
      3. Presence of two reliable made witness during the marriage ceremony.
      4. Payment of dowry by the groom to the bride.
      5. The marriage must be between two person whose marriage is allowed in Islam.
      6. The woman to be married must be free from any marital ties such as being married or in iddah.
    3. WHAT ARE THE RATIONAL BEHIND THE PROPHETS MARRYING MORE THAN ONE WIFE.
      1. To disseminate Islamic knowledge.
      2. For protection and security of windows whose husband had died in Jihad wars.
      3. As a gift from a leader.
      4. To fulfill and implement an Islamic law – Allah commanded the prophet marry Zainab bint Jahsh.
      5. To foster friendship and compassionate companions i.e Aisha Hafswa.
      6. To establish peace and co-existence i.e fuwainyah banu muskaliq
      7. To continue practicing with the patience that Allah had prescribed to his predecessors like prophet Suleiman, Daud and others.
