MARKING SCHEME
- SIGHT READING TEST (10 marks)
- Award 2 marks for each bar accurately performed (pitch and rhythm). (8 marks)
- award full mark for correctly performed bar
- award only 1 mark per bar if rhythm is wrong
- no mark for wrong pitch (rhythm not to be considered if pitch is wrong)
- progressively (award 1 mark for correct half bar) - Award ½ mark for correct interpretation of time signature (½ mark)
- Fluency and consistency (continuous flow without undue lapses - allow only one repeat for full marks) (½ mark)
- Special performance instructions/directions. (slurs, dynamics, phrases, staccato etc). Special perform(½ mark)

This requirement should also be communicated to the candidates before the start of the examination.
