      • It is divided into two main parts Old Testament and New Testament
      • It is composed of various sections
      • It is arranged in archeological order

    2. Effect of translation of the bible into local language
      • Many people are able to read the word of God / improved literacy of the people
      • It led to development of African languages
      • It led to evangelization easier / grown of church
      • It led to the development of African independence churches
      • Many Africans got converted into Christianity
      • Missionaries were able to learn African languages
      • Development of printing press
      • It created job opportunities
      • Africans demanded leadership roles
      • It created more religious heritage

    1. Description of the contest between prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel (1st kings 18:17 – 40)
      • Prophet Elijah asked Ahab to assemble all the people at Mt. Carmel
      • The king summoned all the people including Baal at Mt. Carmel
      • Elijah told the people to choose God and Baal
      • He ordered for two bulls to be brought for the sacrifice
      • He challenged them that the party whose God would sent fire would be the true God
      • They were the firsts to perform the sacrifice
      • They prayed to their god fruitlessly
      • Elijah mocked them to shout louder as their god might be asleep
      • They continued to pray and cut themselves with knives but no fire appeared
      • Elijah asked them to move closer as he prepared the alter
      • He then prayed to God to send fire to consume the sacrifice
      • Fire was sent form heaven and consumed the sacrifice
      • The people threw themselves on the ground and worshipped Yahweh
      • Elijah then ordered for the killing of the Baal prophets 7 x 1 = 7 marks

      • Christians are God’s people

      • In both members pray to God

      • In both members show respect to God by helping those in need

      • In both members take care of religious leaders
