- Description of the contest between prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel (1st kings 18:17 – 40)
- Prophet Elijah asked Ahab to assemble all the people at Mt. Carmel
- The king summoned all the people including Baal at Mt. Carmel
- Elijah told the people to choose God and Baal
- He ordered for two bulls to be brought for the sacrifice
- He challenged them that the party whose God would sent fire would be the true God
- They were the firsts to perform the sacrifice
- They prayed to their god fruitlessly
- Elijah mocked them to shout louder as their god might be asleep
- They continued to pray and cut themselves with knives but no fire appeared
