1. - John will be the prophet of the Most High.
  - He will be the forerunner of the Messiah/ he will prepare the way of the Messiah
  - Hw will give knowledge of salvation to the people of God
  - John will give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death
  - He will direct God’s people to tender mercy of God which they will receive forgiveness of sins

2. - Both preached the message of salvation / they preached the Good News
  - Both preached about social justice / they condemned social injustice
  - They advised people to repent their sins in order to attain salvation
  - Both condemned hypocrisy in the Jewish society
  - Both predicted what would happen in the future / They foretold the future / Both were prophets
  - John and Jesus encountered opposition from the Jewish leaders
  - Both fulfilled what was prophesized in the Old Testament / Their ministry had been prophesied in the Old Testament

3. - Christians should be courageous in their work, John did not fear to condemn Herold.

1. - Jesus went to Capernaum after the rejection at Nazareth
  - He taught people in a synagogue
  - People were astonished at his teaching because he taught with authority
  - There was a man in the synagogue who had a demon

  - Jesus rebuked the demon and commanded it to be silent
  - The demon threw the man down and left without hurting him.

1. The healing of centurion’s servant.
  - Jesus entered Capernaum where the centurions servant was sick.
  - The centurion sent Jewish elders to plead with Jesus to heal his servant
  - The elders told Jesus how good the man was to the Jewish community
  - Jesus accepted and went with them.
  - The centurion sent his friends to stop Jesus not come to his house for he did not deserve the visit.
  - He believed that if Jesus just gave a command the servant would be healed.
  - Jesus marveled at the faith of the centurion and made his servant well
  - When the friends of the centurion went back home they found the servant healed.

2. - People should not trust in material wealth but in God who controls their lives.
  - They should not worry about material needs but trust in Gods providence
  - People should be concerned with seeking God’s kingdom first before their personal material needs.
  - Material possession should be used to serve and glorify God
  - Material possession is temporal unlike heavenly treasures
  - Concentrating on material possession makes people forget about God
  - Acquisition of material wealth is not bad but how it is possessed and used
  - Those who seek Gods kingdom will be rewarded with heaven treasures.

1. - A prophet way of life should reflect the teachings of Jesus

  - A person under the influence of the Holy spirit will proclaim Jesus as Lord and savior
