DESIGN PROBLEM (40 marks)

People working in an office in various institution often desire that their doors remain closed when they are inside. This posses a challenge to them whenever a visitor gets in and forgets to lock the door when the leave. Design an automatic door closing system considering the following:

1. It has bars that are fixed on the door board and frame.
2. It controls the speed at which it closes the door.
3. It is strong enough to withstand the force applied on it.
4. It is assembled on the door using screws.
   Requirements
   1. Make sketches of two possible solutions for your design (6 marks)
   2. Select one of the designs in (a) above and make a refined labelled pictorial sketch (14 marks)
   3. Make detailed sketches for the mechanisms to allow for each of the considerations above (15 marks)
   4. List three materials used and state one reason for the choice of each. (3 marks)
   5. State two methods of joining the parts and state where each is used (2 marks)
